Oxford North's HIF and pre-commencement survey works to start where safe to do so

To keep you updated, Thomas White Oxford will be commencing survey works at Oxford North as part of the delivery programme and in order to address the Homes England Housing Infrastructure Fund's (HIF) design and procurement process, which requires infrastructure works to be completed by March 2022.

TWO is working proactively with Oxford City Council to finalise the legal agreement and planning conditions to enable planning consent to be issued and survey work can take place in advance of this.

What is HIF?

The Housing Infrastructure Fund, which was awarded by Homes England to Oxford City Council, totals £10 million for Oxford North and will be used towards building roads and infrastructure to support new housing.

Pre-commencement planning condition surveys

A number of surveys are also required to address Oxford City Council’s pre-commencement planning conditions. Due to the timescales involved in preparing the necessary reports, work needs to be undertaken now and in advance of the planning permission being issued in order to meet the strict deadline imposed on the HIF funding.

What type of surveys will take place?

Survey activity, including soil, groundwater, drainage, civil, and Geotech, will take place on-site carried out by various contractors, subject to all relevant provisions as per the UK government’s latest COVID-19 advice on Contractors’ site operations.

Surveyors will be operating only where they can do so safely to follow the Government’s approved Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
